Archives & Special Collections research guide

This guide provides information about doing research in the Consortium Library's Archives & Special Collections.

Finding university records

Archives and Special Collections holds records from the University of Alaska Anchorage, Anchorage Community College, and Alaska Pacific University (formerly Alaska Methodist University). These institutional records are by no means comprehensive, and many of the records are still held by the offices or departments that created them. Some documents that contain information covered under FERPA, such as individual student records, are restricted. The archives does not keep materials deemed to be non-permanent, including syllabi and records of individual courses. The records of the University of Alaska System are located at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Step 1:

From the main menu, hover over "Collections" and click on "University records" in the dropdown.

Step 2:

Select which institution's records you want to find.

Step 3:

The university records are organized alphabetically by the college or administrative unit that created them, or by the name of the record series, when the office that created them is not known. For example, the Alaska Medical Library newsletters are listed under the Consortium Library, but the Commencement programs are listed by title because it may not be clear which office created them. Click on the title of the record series you are interested in. Descriptions may not be available for every series.
