Archives & Special Collections research guide

This guide provides information about doing research in the Consortium Library's Archives & Special Collections.

Topic guides

We have created topic guides that list collections related to some of our frequently researched subjects. While the guides are a great place to start if you are looking for material on particular topic, they may not include every collection containing material on a subject. It is always best to do a search in addition to looking at the topic guides.

Step 1:

Hover over "Collections" in the main menu and select "Topic guides" from the dropdown.

Step 2:

Select the topic you are researching from the alphabetical list. Remember that different words can be used to describe the same topic, so the topic you are looking for may be listed under a different term than you expect. For example if you are interested in the 1964 Alaska Earthquake, you might also look alphabetically under "Earthquake."

Step 3:

Click on the name of a collection to go to the finding aid for that collection. Most Ephemera collections do not have finding aids, so the names are not linked in the guides. The description below each link provides information about the collections that may help determine which collections are relevant to your research.

1. Hover over "Collections" in the main menu and select "Topic guides" from the dropdown.
