Grant Hacks

  • Before writing a proposal, contact the granting organization to ask if the project you want to fund is a good match for the grant.
  • If there are other organizations serving the same need, consider contacting them about collaborating on grant projects and proposals.
  • Talk with the Program Officers of relevant foundations in your state.  If they can't fund your project, they may know of other funders who can.
  • Avoid changing the mission of your project or organization to meet the parameters of a grant.
