Information literacy is the “set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning” (ACRL).
We integrate the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy through our teaching strategies. The six elements of the Framework are:
The Framework establishes the importance of critical thinking in the information literacy process. Each element has student learning outcomes and provides ways of thinking about information.
