Research Service Points

The research service points of the Consortium Library provide a direct link for library users to obtain assistance with their research needs. The research help services of the Consortium Library are a vital and visible expression of the purpose and mission of the Consortium Library.

See below for description of services provided by research service points.

Instruction and Research Services

The Consortium Library’s Instruction and Research Services (IR Services) department provides research assistance and instruction for the UAA and APU. IR Services provides research support in person, by chat, by phone, and by email with the use of both electronic and print resources. Other library departments also provide specialized research assistance. For more information go to the Information and Research Services Policy page.

Alaska Medical Library

The Alaska Medical Library (AML) provides research assistance and instruction for University of UAA and APU in support of nursing, allied health, and public health programs and Alaska WWAMI (collaborative medical school among five northwestern states). AML also provides fee-based library services for Alaska healthcare professionals and other non-UAA/APU researchers. Please see AML Services and Policies for more information.

Archives and Special Collections

Archives and Special Collections (ASC) provides research assistance and instruction for the UAA and APU as well as the public. The archivists provide research support for materials held within ASC: both archival materials and the Library's Rare Books collection. Access to ASC materials is currently by appointment only for both in-person research and virtual access. Please see Research Support page for more information.
