The founder of the project, Jeff Hadden, passed away in 2003. The site is now edited by Douglas E. Cowan, Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Sociology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Working with an advisory board of internationally recognized scholars of new religious movements, Prof. Cowan is overseeing the site's ongoing development.
