Library Services For Distance Learners

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • How can I access the library's databases?

You may access these resources by using your UAA/APU username and password. You may also contact the Reference Desk for answers to your questions about the databases.

  • How can I get help with my paper/research project?

You can contact the Research Help Desk in person, via email or online chat, or by phone. Our Research page has information on how to evaluate and cite resources, write papers, and use library collections and services.

  • Can I borrow books from the library?

We mail items free of charge to Distance/eLearning students living outside the Anchorage area. However, students are responsible for return mailing costs. This includes both items in our collection and Interlibrary Loan (ILL) items. Please contact ILL staff with questions.

  • Can I request an article from a journal that's not online?

All  students can request articles using Document Delivery, a service that allows you to order copies of articles held in the library's print collection of journals and newspapers. When you place an order for an article, we will find it in the print collection, scan it, and deliver it to you electronically.
