Information to use when the library is closed.

Library Closures

The library is closed. What do I do if:

I need help with my assignment / research?

  • You can get research help even when the building is closed. Visit the Ask Us page. Email is always available, and live person chat / text may be an option.
  • The Self-Guided Research Help guide offers self-guided help for common research questions and types of assignments..
  • For help with archival research, contact Archives & Special Collections.
  • For help with health and medical research, contact Alaska Medical Library.
  • You can also try Live Homework Help, a free, live, online tutoring service for all Alaskans.

I want to access library resources like articles and databases?

I am supposed to return items to the library?

  • If it's a laptop or Course Reserves item (textbook / class material), return it directly to the Main Circulation Desk as soon as possible after the library reopens. If you have trouble doing so, please email uaa_librarycirc@alaska.edu or call 907-786-1871 and leave a message.
  • If it's an Interlibrary Loan (item from another state with a paper band on the cover), return it directly to the Main Circulation Desk as soon as possible after the library reopens. If you have trouble doing so, please email uaa_ayill@alaska.edu or call 907-786-1828 and leave a message.
  • For all other library items, check your library account in case the due date has been extended. There are no daily fines for most overdue items. Return the item as soon as possible after the library reopens, at our outdoor book drop, or to any other Alaska Library Catalog member library.

I have something to pick up from the Main Circulation Desk?

  • We may be able to extend the pickup window, allowing you to pick items up once we reopen. If this affects you, please email uaa_librarycirc@alaska.edu or call 907-786-1871 and leave a message.

The item I already returned is still on my account?

  • Don't worry! Once the library reopens, we will process items as if they were returned before the closure. This includes laptops, books, Course Reserves, Interlibrary Loans, etc.

I have an appointment, event, or class?

  • For appointments or meetings, contact the person/department you are meeting.
  • For classes, contact your professor.
  • For events, try contacting the organizer or checking the library events page.

I need to take a test or get tutoring?

I want to know when the library will reopen?

  • For the most current information, check the hours page or library homepage.
