The YRBS is part of an epidemiological surveillance system that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) established in 1990 to monitor the prevalence of health-risk behaviors among youth.
Since 1975 the National Institute on Drug Abuse has conducted the MTF survey to measure drug, alcohol, and cigarette use and related attitudes among adolescent students nationwide.
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) created this website to educate adolescents ages 11-15 (as well as their parents and teachers) on the science behind drug abuse. NIDA enlisted the help of teens in developing the site.
