Are you interested in making textbooks more affordable at UAA? Interested in developing your advocacy and leadership skills? Curious what zero-cost textbooks and course materials have to do with student success and equity? Join the UAA Student Textbook Affordability Club (STAC)!
STAC is the meeting place for all University of Alaska Anchorage students interested in promoting affordable textbooks and learning materials at UAA through education, advocacy, and resource distribution. STAC members include current or prospective students, faculty and staff, and community stakeholders in the pursuit of this purpose. All are welcome to participate in increasing access to affordable textbooks at UAA!
This club was founded by Emily Cohen, Jeffry Crews, Evelyn Robbins, Danelle Shellikoff, Gala Mackie, Jessica Turner, and Malia Simpson with the support of co-advisors Dr. Veronica Howard (Associate Professor, Psychology) and D'Arcy Hutchings (Associate Professor, Library).
Club advocacy efforts in Spring 2022 were possible thanks to grant funding provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Institute of Food and Agriculture, specifically their Alaska Native-Serving and Native Hawaiian-Serving Institutions Education Competitive Grants Program.
