In addition to city and state revenue from the Iditarod and other prominent races held in Alaska, dog sledding-related businesses are numerous in the state. These businesses provide hundreds of jobs, and dog sledding attracts thousands of tourists each year as well as Alaskan residents who want to participate in the state sport.
