EBP Defined

"Evidence based medicine is about asking questions, finding and appraising the relevant data, and harnessing that information for everyday clinical practice" (Rosenberg, 1995, p. 112).

Steps of the EBP process:

  1. Formulate a clear clinical question from a patient's problem
  2. Search the literature for relevant clinical articles
  3. Evaluate the evidence for its validity and usefulness
  4. Implement useful findings in clinical practice

(Rosenberg, W. & Donald, A. (1995). Evidence based medicine: An approach to clinical problem-solving. BMJ, 310, 1122-1126).
