ERIC Database
ERIC - Education Resources Information Center
The world`s largest source of education information, with more than 1 million abstracts of documents and journal articles. This database is freely available through the U.S. Department of Education but is also available through other database vendors (below), who provide slightly different search interfaces. - Academic Search Premier
Provides full text for many topics. Great place to start research. - Dissertation Abstracts
An index to dissertations and master's theses from institutions in North America and Europe. - Social Sciences Citation Index
A very comprehensive index that allows you to determine who is being cited (and by whom) in the social sciences literature.
Sub-discipline Databases
Often your educational research topic will fall within another discipline as well as education. In these cases, you may want to consult the primary database for that discipline as well as the education databases listed above.
- ABI/INFORM Global
Indexes articles from business periodicals. Use this database if your topic covers business aspects of educational administration. - PsychInfo
Indexes articles from psychology journals since 1887. Use this database if your topic includes educational psychology. - Sociological Abstracts
indexes the international literature in sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral sciences. Use this database if your topic includes aspects of social issues in education.
