BA 461: Negotiation and Conflict Management

SOC classifies workers into occupational categories. Workers are classified into 23 major groups; each group has a 2-digit code followed by 4 zeros. Within these 23 groups are about 800 occupations. Each occupational code replaces the last 4 digits of the major group code, resulting in a unique 6-digit code for each occupation.
Example:
SOC 11-0000, Management Occupations, is one of the 23 major occupational groups.
Within this group, occupations have SOC codes such as:
11-1011 Chief Executives
11-2021 Marketing Managers
11-3031 Financial Managers

NAICS codes are used to classify the industry areas in which a company operates. The system is common to the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
