RefWorks

Other Citation Software options

If you don't want to use RefWorks, try one of these other citation management options. These are free, but you may have to create an account to use them.

Be aware that these free sources may not necessarily include the particular citation style you need.

Tip! When citing an article from a journal, remember use the template for a journal article citation, not a website. Yes, the article may be found on the web, but it's important to cite the information from the journal, not the website.

More about RefWorks

NOTE! RefWorks will format *most* of your bibliography or list of references in your chosen Output Style.  However, ALWAYS double-check the accuracy of the citations in your bibliography, since RefWorks does NOT:

  • italicize names of species, organisms
  • consistently include author initials if author name is hyphenated
  • always represent journal titles correctly
  • correctly capitalize proper nouns (e.g., names of countries, places, oceans, etc.)
